Health Issues

One of the great features of a Coton de Tulear is that they are a very healthy breed with a long-life span.

Although health, in every creature is governed by Mother Nature, the Coton isn’t plagued with as many issues as many other breeds. Many of the issues in the breed have DNA tests available so we can avoid producing them. If you would like to learn more about health testing, you can see the disease statistics that have been tested through OFA, This is another good reason to buy from a CCTC Code of Ethics Breeder and ask about their health testing and breeding program.

The following is a list of possible issues in the breed if you would like to learn more. Don’t forget, your breeder is your best source for health information!
